5 more books...

It's been a while since I posted books that I've been reading lately....I have passed a few on (including "Room" - Emma Donoghue and "Never Let Me Go" - Kazua Ishiguro which I both enjoyed) but these are 5 I still have. I liked all of these but if I had to pick a fave it would be "Once in a House on Fire" by Andrea Ashworth, a memoir about growing up in a poor and violent home in Manchester in the 1970's and 80's.

  1. I haven't heard of "Once in a House on Fire" but I was a bit disappointed with "Never Let Me Go"...I think I expected too much of Ishiguro. I've heard a lot about "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" though...do you think it's worth reading at some point?

  2. Hi Debby - I haven't read much Ishiguro before - only Remains of the Day many years ago, of which I remember little. I was surprised by the simplicity of the writing of "Never Let Me Go" but I was definitely hooked by the story and the style of writing. The Reluctant Fundamentalist is a quick easy read - perhaps confronting for American audiences but I liked it very much. I am pretty easy to please though!
